The Trump administration has indefinitely paused applications filed by migrants from Latin America and Ukraine who were admitted into the U.S. under several programs set up by the Biden administration. These parole programs allowed for the quick entry of foreigners for humanitarian or public benefit reasons. The programs include Uniting for Ukraine, which offered safe haven for people fleeing the Russian invasion with a U.S. sponsor. Another program was for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans with U.S. citizen sponsors. Also impacted is a program allowing some Colombians, Ecuadorians, Central Americans, Haitians, and Cubans with relatives in the United States to come and wait for family-based green cards to become available.
